Search Tips

Use these strategies to identify more data sources tailored to your needs.

  • Use Google domain searches (e.g., site:.gov or site:.org, etc. at the end of your search) to limit results to:

    • Government Websites
    • Nonprofit Research Groups
    • Educational Websites
  • Add terms to a Google search to find data from professional organizations and associations, non-profits, or research groups.
  • Try Google’s Dataset Search
  • Look for articles or reports on your topic.  Where did they obtain their data or have they shared a dataset in a repository?
  • Watch this video from the data librarians on how to identify and find data.
